Putting Patients First: Connecting Face to Face in Virtual Space

British Columbia's only patient-oriented research conference.

#PPF20 was held on Thursday, October 8, 2020 using a virtual platform with a pre-conference networking evening on October 7.

Registered? Login to attend the conference:

3. Enter the email address you used to register. You will see a message that states 'Success! Please check your e-mail for login instructions.'
4. Check your email for a link that allows you to automatically login.
   • This email will come from 'noreply@secure-platform.com'.
   • It will have a subject line of 'Login Link for Your Conference'.
   • Be sure to check your junk or spam folder if this email doesn't appear in your inbox.
5. Go to the View Sessions tab to find the session for the conference you wish to attend.

Tips for having the best experience at PPF20

 

What can I do in advance of PPF20?

• Review the conference program
• Register for the conference
• Ensure you have a secure Wi-Fi connection with your device to access the conference
• Have the Zoom platform downloaded on the device you will be using
• For the best connection experience, use Chrome, Safari, Edge, or Firefox Internet browsers
• I am new to Zoom – what do I do?

  • Certain sessions and networking opportunities will give you the option to engage directly with other attendees and stakeholders through audio and video conferencing. If you participate, we encourage you to do a Zoom test.

What should I do on the days of PPF20?

  • During the conference, use the blue icon in the bottom right corner of your screen to connect with live support.

• How do I network with others?

   1. Oct 7 @ 6:30pm | Meet and Greet: Stirling Bryan, Danielle Lavallee, Moderator: Kent Cadogan-Loftsgard, patient partner

   Join the BC Academic Health Science Network’s President and Scientific Director to learn more about what the AHSN and BC SUPPORT Unit have been up to and what’s coming up in the future. This will be an opportunity to have an informal “chat” via Zoom’s Chat feature.

   2. Oct 8 @ 10:05am | Networking Sessions: Regional Centres Come have an informal chat with staff from the Unit’s Regional Centres, and learn what’s going on in the region.

   3. Oct 8 @ 2:05pm | Hallway Chats Come and have an informal virtual hallway chat with moderators on POR topics they’ve identified. All are welcome to all chats.

   4. Throughout the conference, use the Zoom Chat function to connect with others. You are able to send a private message to another attendee. Set up a time to connect after the conference? Share Twitter handles? Exchange email addresses?

   5. Tweet using #PPF20 and @bcsupportunit to keep the conversation going.

• Take care of yourself:
  • Get up and stretch, move your body, take some deep breaths
  • Stand while you participate
  • Have something to drink and eat regularly to keep refreshed

What should I do after PPF20?

• All sessions will be recorded and available on our YouTube channel after the conference, so if you have any issues during the conference you can watch sessions afterward or share them with friends and colleagues.
• Remember to follow up on your network connections – follow others’ Twitter accounts, set up those post-conference discussions.
• Remember to take the conference survey which will be sent to you after the conference.
